CODE OF CONDUCT FOR WLCC MEMBERS

I. Statement of Purpose

This Code of Conduct outlines the professional standards and expectations for all members of the organization, including the Executive Board. By activating their membership, individuals agree to uphold these principles and contribute positively to the mission and vision of the organization as outlined in the Bylaws.

II. Standards of Professional Conduct

A. Professionalism and Integrity

Members are expected to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in all interactions, including in person, online, and on social media.

B. Inclusive and Welcoming Environment

Members contribute to a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone feels respected, engaged, and valued.

C. Respectful Communication

Members engage in respectful dialogue and avoid confrontational, demeaning, or aggressive communication.

D. Prohibited Conduct

Harassment, intimidation, threats, and any form of discrimination are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

E. Copyright and Commercial Practices

Members must comply with copyright laws and may not share, modify, sell, or distribute copyrighted material without proper permission.

F. Commitment to the Organization

1. Members maintain the confidentiality of information they are not authorized to share publicly or outside the organization.

2. Members act in ways that protect the organization’s reputation and uphold its integrity.

G. Commitment to Public Responsibility

1. Members uphold the highest standards of conduct in their classrooms, communities, and professional engagements.

2. Members’ professional presence should reflect and support the values and mission of the organization.

3. Members support and advocate for effective training and collaborative skill building in facilitating language acquisition.

H. Commitment to Personal Responsibility

Members are encouraged to resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively and directly, prior to involving organizational leadership.

I. Commitment to Professional Expertise by Certified Members

1. Members implement instructional and coaching practices rooted in current, evidence-based research in language acquisition, in alignment with the organization’s mission.

2. Certified Members shall pursue ongoing development to maintain and enhance their coaching and/or training skills.

3. Certified Members shall share strategies, resources, and activities to strengthen our collective coaching and training protocols.

J. Conflict of Interest & Intellectual Property

  1. If active, certified members are claiming affiliation with WLCC at any event, then all use of protocols, logos, materials, frameworks, etc. must adhere to the Purpose, Vision, and Mission of the organization.

  2. Members shall not misrepresent, in part or whole, WLCC's intellectual property as their own.

  3. When operating under the auspices of WLCC, certified members may not promote competing entities that provide comparable services in place of WLCC.
